What Makes Us Green

St. John, a part of the US Virgin Islands, is an island rich in history and culture. Nearly two-thirds of the island is protected by the Virgin Islands National Park, ensuring that it will remain more natural and less developed.

There is a great variety of vegetation on St. John, ranging from semiarid pieces of land to tropical rain forests. The island is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views at every turn in the road (and there are lots of turns in the roads that wind through St. John).

With over 20 trails on an island with only 19.6 square miles of land, you’re unlikely to run out of hikes before the end of your trip. On any of these hikes, you will find yourself surrounded by nature in a way unlike anywhere else. Ruins from the plantation era abound on St. John, and you’re likely to run across pieces of the past in your travels.

The National Park also covers a large part of the island’s bays, beaches, coral reefs, and shoreline, making St. John a phenomenal area for sailing, kayaking, snorkeling, diving, or just relaxing on the beach. The tropical fish, coral, and underwater landscape are just as impressive as the landscape above the water. Crystal-clear waters make St. John a perfect place to learn scuba diving.

In addition to the fun-in-the-sun activities, you can elect to pursue other interests during your stay in St. John. From bird-watching to shopping in Coral Bay, Cruz Bay, or St. Thomas, to catching live music at one of the local spots, there’s a little bit of St. John for everyone.
